About Us

Inverness Kennels is located north of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada . We are situated on 700 acres of beautiful countryside with one half mile of riverfront along the meandering Bonnechere River that joins picturesque Golden and Wilber Lakes . The name “ Inverness ”, was chosen by Ian’s late father in recognition of our Scottish heritage. We are proud to carry on our commitment to the German Shepherd Dog and to our home, Inverness , in his memory.

We got our start with the German Shepherd breed in 1983 and are very fortunate to have been associated with so many wonderful people that have helped us along the way.

Our dogs, first and foremost, enjoy being faithful companions and loving family pets. This is of paramount importance to us. The fact that our dogs are also successful in other venues brings us much pride. 

Our fully serviced, kennel facility houses 20 indoor / outdoor runs.

We are members in good standing of the German Shepherd Dog Club of Canada , The German Shepherd Dog Club of America , The Canadian Kennel Club, The Ottawa Kennel Club, and The Ottawa and Area German Shepherd Club.

Our Beliefs

Honesty- Be honest to the breed.  The German Shepherd Dog has a breed standard.  It describes the qualities, virtues, and characteristics of the breed.  Hold true to what's right for the breed, and not necessarily to what's popular.

Client Accountability- We recognize that our dogs are members of a family.  As breeders, we accept the responsibility for ensuring that our clients experience a happy and healthy relationship with their German Shepherd companions.

Persistance- We strive for perfection in our breeding program, while at the same time we continue to recognize our failings towards this end, and learn from them.
